Jurassic World 3 star discusses the importance of a bisexual character in the franchise ...

Jurassic World: Dominion is almost here, bringing a number of classic characters from the previous two films back to the game, as well as putting some new faces on the mix for good measure.

DeWanda Wise, star of She''s Gotta Have It and She''s Fired, is joining the cast as pilot Kayla Watts, who assists the main characters in their latest and greatest mission.

Wise spoke out against becoming bisexual on ComicBook.com and said it''s important to play a queer role.

"It''s important, and it''s also important to me that we continue to broaden the conversation beyond looking for a kiss," she said. If you''re queer, then you''re queer... I said it.

"You don''t turn it off. It doesn''t matter if your partner is in the cockpit with you. It just is a statement of being. So that was one of the things in her DNA, in her dino DNA, and ensuring that she is. Kayla is bi, and that''s just, it''s what it is.

It''ll be interesting to see if and how Kayla''s sexuality is depicted in the film itself. Thankfully, we''re only a few weeks away from hearing them.

Dominion feels like the Jurassic franchise''s large success on the big screen, but it isn''t necessarily the case.

"I think that Dominion will complete this trilogy, but we''re not resting on our laurels." Producer Frank Marshall has said recently that his studio is going to sit down and see what the future holds.

"We do not expect to produce quality, good films with excellent narration, great writers and directors," says the author. We''re certainly looking to do more in the Jurassic world.

The release date for Jurassic World: Dominion is June 10, 2022.
