Rob Mallard and Katie McGlynn of Coronation Street had thought about seeing their roles nearly three years ago when Sinead Osbourne died, but the two former co-stars have maintained their trusts ever since.
Last month, the two shared photos of a Christmas holiday in Amsterdam.
Mallard revealed how his former on-screen wife has cultivated a strong connection. They also revealed that Sinead''s exit narrative brought them closer together and enhanced their bond.
"I think that final storyline helped us build bond," Mallard said of Inside Soap. "I always think that having a true friendship isn''t what makes you smile, but it''s like no time has passed. And that''s exactly what makes me and Katie feel."
Daniel, a character of Sinead, has discovered himself in a series of romantic encounters, finally discovering some connection with Daisy (Midgeley, played by Charlotte Jordan). What does McGlynn think of Daniel''s new romance?
"She has seen some of it, and said that she believes Daniel and Daisy are strong together. "But it does come with a look that says: "But if you like her more than me, we''re over!"
For the couple, the journey to romance hasn''t been difficult, but even now there''s trouble in paradise as Daniel reunites with Nicky (Wheatley, played by Kimberly Hart-Simpson), who tries to intimidate him into giving their connection a go.
Mallard admits that he believes Daisy is Daniel''s and hopes that the feisty couple will have a future, saying, "She''s one of those people who, once she gets under your skin, can never really get her out again."
On ITV, Coronation Street runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm, and is streamed on the ITV Hub.
