According to Variety, the film''s success, the critically acclaimed Apollo 10: A Space Age Childhood, which premiered on Netflix last month, has pushed down the stars. Glen Powell and Adria Arjona will play in the directors'' next action-comedy Hitman.

Hitman has been written by Linklater and Powell and is based on an article by Skip Hollandsworth for Texas Monthly. However, the film will see Powell playing a cop who goes undercover as a hitman in Houston. However, things fall when he meets a woman (Arjona) who is trying to escape an abusive relationship. It is also worth noting that an article by Hollandsworth inspired Linklaters film Bernie.

Powell has previously worked for Linklater in Fast Food Nation, Everybody Wants Some!!, and Apollo 10: A Space Age Childhood, as well as in Hidden Figures and The Expendables 3, which can be seen in the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick. Arjona has also played in several films such as Emerald City, Good Omens, and the second season of True Detective. Aarjona can also be seen in the upcoming Star Wars series Andor on Disney+, the upcoming HBO series I

Hitman will be Powells first time around as a screenwriter, but it''s hardly Linklater''s. He was nominated for the Best Writing and Adapted Screenplay for Before Sunset and Before Midnight, and was nominated for the Best Writing and Original Screenplay nomination for Boyhood, and he received a nomination for "Directing" and "Best Picture." Hitman will be Powell''s first real foray into the action genre.

Linklater will direct the film with Michael Blizzard for Detour Pictures, a film produced by Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman for Aggregate Films, and Powell will direct the film for BarnStorm Productions.

Production on Hitman is expected to begin this October. Stay tuned to Collider for news on this project.
