Sam Claflin is set to star in Lionsgate's 'Bagman' thriller ...

Sam Claflin is best known for his roles as Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games, and now the actor is writing a screenplay for Lionsgate''s Bagman, directed by Colm McCarthy. John Hulme is currently playing the screenplay, and will be produced by Temple Hills Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.

Meredith Wieck and Jorge Alfaro are overseeing the studio development for Lionsgate with Temple Hill executive John Fischer, who brought the project in and overseeing it for Temple Hill. Dan Freedman has overseen the studio.

The plot for the film is similar to that of a father who suffers from his deepest inner fear when his childhood monster once again haunts him. Only this time, the fight isn''t for himself; it''s for his family," Claflin said, directing the film Every Breath You Take. But it''s a fantastic new step for the actor.

With his work in The Hunger Games, Claflin became a fan favorite. Finnick was an actor who tallied a lot to fans (myself included) and so seeing him shine in Bagman is a fantastic new adventure not only for Claflin as a performer but for us as fans of Finnick and Claflin.

Sam has grown into a powerful lead man since we first worked with him on Catching Fire. Were pleased that he responded so strongly to this project and were looking forward to starting production with him and his family at Temple Hill, according to Nathan Kahane, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.

This isn''t the first thriller for Claflin, who was also in The Quiet Ones back in 2014 and has continued to play in the game a bit throughout his career. Although Claflin may have played a secondary role at times, it''s amazing to see him film Lionsgate. McCarthy and Claflin have both worked on the same series before as Peaky Blinders, but they will also play Oswald Mosley starting in Season 5.

This is a great time to be fans of Claflin, and it''s going to be fun to see him take on his role as Bagman! We can''t wait to see what McCarthy, Claflin, and his company have in store for us!
