On May 26, Critical Role will launch a third actual play mini-series involving guest stars from Dimension 20. Exandria Unlimited: Calamity will feature Marisha Ray, Aabria Iyengar, and others. The storyline takes place more than 1,000 years before the events of the troupes'' first campaign, but it requires no previous knowledge of existing characters or previous events, according to a news release.
The Exandria Unlimited series began in June 2021 with Iyengar as the DMs chair, starting the #SummerofAabria, which featured Robbie Daymonds in the universes canon. However, Calamity will restart the series by focusing on an important tale from the past.
According to the official website, the Calamity refers to a great war triggered by a mortal trying to ascend to godhood. That war eventually resulted in the loss of two-thirds of Exandrian life.
The series follows six heroes as they discover an insidious injustice beneath a complex that they haveworn to protect. This is a story in which Exandria''s greatest minds could not or would not see the truth before it was too late. These powerful protectors will do everything they can to prevent The Calamity.
Lou Wilson, a veteran of many Dimension 20 campaigns currently writes for Jimmy Kimmel Live, will also play actor Luis Carazo, whom fans of LA By Night will recognize for his time as Nines Rodriguez, and Critical Role members Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham.
From May 26, Exandria Unlimited: Calamity will air on Twitch and YouTube on Thursdays at 7 p.m. PDT, with video-on-demand versions coming Mondays on YouTube. Subscriptions are also available to receive that content quicker. Critical Roles Campaign 3 will resume on June 30.
