This weekend, you can watch The Northman, Uncharted, and more new films at home ...

This week, it''s Friday, and there''s around one metric ton of new movies to stream and VOD.

Two of our favourite movies of the year so far are now available to rent in The Northman and Ambulance, as well as the heist comedy The Bad Guys. The Uncharted adaptation with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg is now a $5.99 rental. Plus, there are a number of new Netflix hits (including a Rebel Wilson comedy and a Tamil-language Vijay action thriller), the return of M. Night Shyamalans Old on HBO Max, and a new animated Catwoman adventure.

Here are a few new movies you can watch on streaming and VOD this weekend to help you get a handle on what''s new and available.

The Northman

Where to look: Available for $19.99 on Amazon, Apple, and Vudu

The Northman tells Amleth (Alexander Skarsgard) the son of a deposed king (Ethan Hawke), who fled his country after his father was betrayed and murdered by his uncle Fjolnir (Claes Bang). Amleth is sent to Iceland disguised as a slave and, with the help of a sorceress named Olga (Anya Taylor-Joy), is committed to his revenge.

From our review, here''s a look at how we can describe things.

The horror that engulfs (and precedes) Amleth''s arrival in Iceland is gory and graphic, and Eggers films Viking raids on humble villages in astonishingly choreographed tracking shots. All of this is thrown in line with the majestic Icelandic landscape and an aural backdrop of booming drums and deep bass chants, and the effects is appropriately awe-inspiring.

The Bad Guys

Where to look out for: Available on Amazon, Apple, and Vudu for $19.99

This animated heist film follows a group of anthropomorphic animal criminals who are enticed, pretending to be reformed, and then find themselves actually wanting to be the thing they''re pretending to be. Yes, Mr. Wolf is a pretty harrowing character.

From this perspective, here is a list of topics to explore.

The Bad Guys may well support DreamWorks'' status as the B-squad of contemporary American animation, where spectacle is the default and emotional growth is a little pat. Even when The Bad Guys resembles other films, it is stealing from them gracefully, with its own sense of humor and energy.

Where to look out for: Available on Amazon, Apple, and Vudu for $19.99

Michael Bay is back with this high-octane heist drama about two brothers (Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) who pursue a bank heist and end up on a very long haul in an ambulance. It looks like the return of Quintessential Bay, with impressive action and high-flying drone camerawork.

From our review, here''s a look.

Ambulance is a unique type of action film set out in theaters over the last several decades by a fantastical digital studio blockbuster. It''s a one-shot approach that sets out a practical spectacle of car crashes, gun battles, stunts, and sweaty acting, orchestrated by a deranged ringmaster of a filmmaker who will stop at nothing to get the shot he has in mind. It''s horrifying, exciting, and unruly (with a 136-

The Lost City

Where to find it: Paramount Plus is available for viewing.

Sandra Bullock is played as Lorretta Sage, a reclusive romance writer who often butts heads with Alan (Channing Tatum), the handsome and self-absorbed cover model known for embodying the hero of her books. When Loretta is kidnapped, Alan embarks on a mission to resale her to once and for all prove his own heroism.

From our study, here''s how to see more.

While The Lost City is a notably similar to Romancing the Stone, it is truly remarkable as a sequel to The Mummy, a film that discovered the epic adventure-romance genre and encouraged many other gamers to fail to follow it. However, Aaron Nee and Adam Nee, along the way, remind viewers that Channing Tatum is a fantastic himbo, and Sandra Bullock is a long-standing rom-com queen.

Where to go: Available for $5.99 on Amazon, Apple, and Vudu

As Nathan Drake, a streetwise thief-turned-treasure hunter who joins forces with partner-mentor Victor Sully Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to search for Ferdinand Magellan''s lost treasure, Tom Holland (Spider-Man: No Way Home) joins Zombieland''s director. Ruben Fleischers'' 2022 adaptation of the Uncharted action-adventure video game series in 2022, starring Tom Holland (Spider-Man: No

From our review:

The filmmakers have the appropriate understanding of what makes an Uncharted action set piece, whether it be sweeping a sequence following the games or inventing something entirely new that would fit within one of them, however the execution is flat, inconsequential, and boring. Not a remix of the Uncharted theme during a climactic shootout, padded up to that point by generic action muzak, comes to life.

Peacock: Where to View

The film starring Keith Thomas Firestarter takes on the 21st century in the Stephen Kings 1980 sci-fi thriller and it features Andy (Zac Efron) and Vicky Lemmon, two parents who as college students took part in a secret government experiment that granted them special powers. When their daughter, Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) manifests strong pyrokinetic abilities after her 11th birthday, the family take on the run to protect against government officials who were attracted to her. Firestarter

We''ve collected some valuable information from this article.

Both of the Firestarter films are competing on the same level as Fast Coloror Midnight Special, which includes horror-themed horror films. But sometimes in the world of remakes and Stephen King adaptations, however, the performance may be a little improved. Firestarter 2022 is a major improvement from the original, given that it has a handful of redeeming qualities rather than virtually none at all.

The Sadness

Where to go: Shudder can be found here.

The Sadness, a brutal zombie film developed by Garth Ennis in the crossed series, is accompanied by a young couple in Taiwan who is looking for each other at the start of a zombie epidemic. This film, which is somewhat gruesome, is less mind-eating and more pure sadism.

With the grotesque, a lot of great films have played quite well, but many have struggled to digest this one. In many cases, exploitation horror films like Wes Cravens'' 1977 remake of The Hills Have Eyes don''t involve more shame and finesse. (Jabbaz has a habit of recollecting the audience, in the most often humorous ways, about the perpetrators they committed.) When faced with these kinds of extremes, The Sadness comes to absurdity too

The Matrix Resurrections

Where to watch this video: HBO Max is available.

The Matrix Resurrections, a post-cyberpunk love story and heist movie from Lana Wachowski, is eighteen years after the conclusion of the Matrix trilogy. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are both returning stars. The Matrix Resurrections, a twisted, strange, and profoundly personal sequel to the 1999 series, is much more audacious and singular than the original.

From our review, here''s another example.

The Matrix Resurrections is about doing the impossible. On a very basic level, its about making a follow-up to the Matrix trilogy, which breaks technical and narrative ground the way it was created. It is also a kick-ass work of sci-fi action propulsive, stunning, and yet yet intimate that opens up to the wider audience.

Where can I see it? HBO Max is available for download.

The final outline of Old, based on M. Night Shyamalan, is as hazy and creepy as you would expect from the film alone. After a family vacationing at a tropical resort, the movie takes a dark turn when they and fellow guests at the resort discover themselves trapped on a mysterious beach without any inclination to escape.

The bodies of the deceased are rapidly expanding and deteriorating at an alarming rate, forcing the group to seek for a path to safety before their bodies become trapped into dust. One of the people on the beach, played by Aaron Pierre, is a rapper known as Mid-Sized Sedan. Really.

From our review:

The narrative and direction of Shyamalans are both emotional and emotional, but the plot is surprisingly clear about children. While its title and theme are intended to emphasise an adult fear of age and death, it is also a sentimental film. However, Trent, who is precocious and smart, is retracing facts and makes friends, and his older sister Maddox, who is forced into adulthood without any guidance at all.

Where to look out for: Available for $6.99 on Amazon, Apple, and Vudu

Christina Ricci stars in this horror film about a woman and her young son who move to a distant house to escape her abusive ex-husband. This is because when their mother and child start seeing monsters in and around the house, it threatens their sanity as well as their physical well-being.

From our review:

Monstrous is riffing on pulp fiction from the 1950s, Twilight Zone chills, and the mix of fear and desire inspired by something foreign and unknown ruffling the surface of a hermetic, orderly society. But where the film was influenced by Chris Sivertson and directed by Carol Chrest, Monstrous brings a straightforward approach to material that has even more on the surface.
