Legendary has finally revealed casting for a major role in their upcoming sequel to Godzilla against Kong, and we now know who will be leading us back into the MonsterVerse.
Deadline claimed that Dan Stevens, who plays downton Abbey, will lead the new cast, but that Adam Wingard will be rescheduled once more to direct the movie as he did for the original 2021 film.
This is the first major news for the film, which was previously revealed to be going in Australia later this year. As usual, things are being kept under wraps about the sequel, so it''s not clear how the plot will continue from the first film or what role Stevens will play.
Stevens is well-known for his roles in Downton Abbey and Wingards thriller The Guest, as well as Disney''s live-action Beauty and the Beast.
Stevens will be reunited with the director of Godzilla vs Kong 2 for the very first time since The Guest opened the doors at Sundance, where many criticised Stevens for his work in the lead role of David.
Godzilla vs. Kong became the second film of the pandemic era to achieve a total of $100 million at the domestic box office. Globally the film managed to garner $468 million in theaters alongside its simultaneous release on HBO MAX.
There is no date for the sequel to be released, but since it has not begun filming, fans might be in for quite a while. Godzilla vs. Kong can be seen on HBO Max.
