Take Place After The End of Season 2

In the second season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, there is a massive invasion on Tempest, a duel between Rimuru and the leader of the Holy Paladin, Hinata Sakaguchi, and many more. However, the biggest event must be Rimurus ascension as a Demon Lord.

When the trailer for the new film was released, it provided valuable information to viewers. One of the movies'' true title is Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds. Another important feature of the movie''s content is the fact that Rimuru is already a demon lord.

This means the film starts after the second season. It''s unclear how long the film''s history starts following the end of the second season, but one thing for sure, we get to see Rimuru and all of the other characters with their enhanced abilities and abilities in this film. Not only that, it is highly probable that new characters like Diablo will also appear.

An Original Story

There are 13 volumes of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime light novel that have been published in Japan, and six of them have been adapted to the two seasons of the anime. This means the next story will likely be adapted from volume 7 onwards. Instead of using the pre-existing story from the source material, like Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, this movie will feature a brand new original story from Fuse himself, the author of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

This is excellent news for anyone who already read the light novels because it enables for new content to benefit. That being said, just like how the characters in One Piece''s movies are mostly not canon, it is also unclear whether the movie''s narrative will be canon or not. Because there is no mention of the location or the characters in this movie in the light novels that have been published so far, Fuse might also talk about it in the future volume simply to tie it all together.

What Is It About?

We know from the limited amount of information available today that the film''s origins take place in a small village called Raja. This country is situated on the west of Tempest. For the most part, this small country appears to be closed off from the outside world with little to no sign of trade or diplomatic relations to other large nations like Dwargon or Blumund.

The queen of Raja and an ogre called Hiiro are among the main characters of interest. For some reason, Rimuru is caught on the web of plots surrounding this disgruntled queen.

Hiiro the ogre is believed to be his brother, although Benimaru and his friends were separated when the Orc attacked them. In the past, they stumbled upon Rimuru, while Hiiro ends up in Raja, despite being a fellow survivor of the ogre clan.

Release Date

Along with the release of the first official trailer, the film''s release date was also announced. However, that Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds is scheduled to be released in November 2022. That is, however, only the official Japanese release date. This said, since there is no exclusive agreement with any streaming services being announced yet, we can safely presume that the film will be treated as the same as any other anime movies before it, such as Mugen Train and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. This means international viewers must wait for at least a few months before viewing this film on the big screen.
