I'm not a creepy weirdo, but PokeStop Scanning Makes me feel like one ...

Thanks to a particularly challenging Special Research assignment, I have been spending an entire day on them. My local PokeStop, a feature that has since become quite controversial in the industry, has been used for several reasons. However, it is possible that Niantic is attempting to root through your phone or to determine which PokeStops should be removed.

On Niantic''s support page, the objective of to film a 360 degree shot of real-world objects that may be later digitized by the studio, which is sure if anyone has seen all of these scanning data yet, but it has certainly prompted many people to wonder why Im filming their churches and businesses.

Niantic uses the screenshots to shoot 360 videos of statues, playground equipment, and informational signs. It''s likely no one would question why youre walking around a statue of Paul Revere with your camera out. It''s likely that it''s for a school project or an informational TikTok, but everyone is willing to wear it. It''s a little different when youre sweeping your camera back and forth across the windows of the Church of Christ, which has a bus stop in front

When I start waving my camera around at a busy park or near a church, im suddenly making it everyones business. I''ve decided to keep my camera in place for my friends to see a fountain inside of a pizza area. Now Pokemon Go is trying to make me look like a pizza shop fountain filmmaker. No thanks.

Niantic added PokeStop Power-Ups to increase in confidence in players to participate in scanning. But there is no question whether or not a Level 3 PokeStop is scanned. Supposedly, a Level three includes bonus items, buddy hearts, spawns, and raid premier balls, but it may help Shiny Eternatus, and I will remain silent.

I''ve seen Reddit posts about people confronting players for scanning, and I can''t say why. While some people prefer filming the ground rather than the actual Pokestop, others prefer not giving Niantic access to your phone files altogether. It''s possible that everyone was just shooting their feet. Unless you don''t want to, please pay attention.
