Yasmin Finney, a Heartstopper actress, has revealed that she recently made a transphobic comment.
Elle Argent has the role in Netflix''s coming-of-age series, but she had previously gained TikTok''s popularity after openly discussing her life as a transgender teenager.
Finney shared this sad encounter with a stranger inside a restaurant on Twitter.
"While I was about to leave a restaurant, you know what you look like. "Many women shouted this in front of her peers, and I asked you what I''m going to look like to you." the actor wrote.
"I was absolutely stunned when she said this, and she then said, "I''m not transphobic I have trans friends." At this point, I''ve given up hope lol."
As one person said, "I''m so sorry you went through that, love." "You''re amazing and stunning," and we''re there to help you remember that every day if you need it.

Finney expressed his concern about the possibility to play Elle in Heartstopper during a conversation with PinkNews.
"It really, really, is such a rare story that we get a trans character that doesn''t focus on gender dysphoria, or depression, or bullying, but only the positive the friendship, the chosen family, the transition from an all boys'' to an all girls'' school.
"I''m just so happy to be a part of that positive representation that we''ve had for so many years," she said.
Heartstopper is now available on Netflix.
