Britney Spears'' "miracle baby" miscarriage with partner Sam Asghari has been tragically announced.

Spears said on social media last month that the couple were expecting their first child together. While she was on holiday on Maiu, she suspected she had just indulged in a bit of excess food.

In a humorous story with Asghari shared on Instagram, Spears expressed their displeasure over the miscarriage, but also hope that they may continue to live together.

Britney Spears (@britneyspears) writes a post.

"It is with our deepest sorrow that we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a frightening time for any parent. Perhaps we should have known that until we were further along, however we were overly pleased to share the good news. We will continue striving for our beautiful family. We kindly request privacy during this difficult time."

Asghari reiterated their hope for the future with a tweet: "We will have a miracle soon."

Spears and Asghari announced their engagement in September last year, before implying that they had married earlier this year, in several social media posts, although no official announcement has been made.

Spears has two children from her previous relationship with Kevin Federline, both of whom Asghari was the first to experience fatherhood, which he previously stated as "looking forward" on social media.

"Marriage and children are a natural part of a strong relationship that includes love and respect. Fatherhood is something I have always wanted to for and I don''t take lightly. It is the most important task I will ever do."
