A Nintendo worker was concerned that leaking the Waluigi Tongue Render would be a "terrible error." ...

Last year, Nintendo gave us filthy fans what they wanted: an official render of his tongue. Waluigi was unveiled, which the video team was ploding. It''s been pretty risky. Now, it turns out that include the image was a "terrible mistake."

Kit and Krysta, who were previously host of Nintendo Minute, have shared some information about the episode that revealed the bizarre artwork. As it happens, the render was waiting to be used, which is quite unusual for Nintendo. Kit and Krysta had no clue whether or not it was embargoed, and the decision on whether or not to include the image turned out to be huge.

"As we were seeing the cuts, we were reminded of ''this is really unusual that they just had this new art sitting around,'' says Kit, author of Nintendo Life. "It''s like this, because we always have a schedule, and I''m sure this doesn''t sound right.''

"I started to get really concerned that we were making a terrible mistake...and that we were like gonna be like leaking or like you know, imposing a tax return on this artwork."

According to Krysta, she was willing to go ahead in the name of getting Waluigi''s tongue out there. It''s almost impossible to believe that their bosses would not make a fuss about a small character, so she was horrified.

Nintendo, as we reported back in March, was utterly crappy about the inclusion. Similarly, as a former developer said, "We just didn''t expect it to get through," but nobody said, so we didn''t bring it up because we wanted it to be in [the game]." Thankfully, the risk was paid off: "Sure enough, it landed the way we expected it to.
