Love Island has unveiled the line-up of contestants for the 2022 series, or at least the initial couple heading into the villa, and as years passed, some of them have had problems with fame previously.
Tasha Gouri, who is making history as Love Island''s first deaf contestant, previously appeared in a music video by MNEK, a chart-topping popstar and RuPaul''s Drag Race UK guest coach.
The track ''More Than Words'' was inspired by DJ Sleepwalkrs, which was released in October 2020, and the music video became available shortly thereafter.
All dancers are deaf and difficult to hear as the video approaches. Similar to Rose Ayling-Ellis, an EastEnders actress who won last year''s Strictly Come Dancing and performed at times without music to show her what it was like for her.
Tasha uses a cochlear implant to transform sound into electrical signals that stimulate nerves in order to mimic the sense of hearing, but not a hearing aid that makes sounds louder and clearer. At the start of the video, her implant is in clear view, and she will no doubt increase their awareness to them as part of the dating program.
Tasha has served as a model for ASOS as well as the MNEK video. Previously, she appeared in viral campaigns for them.
The new series of Love Island will feature a wide range of twists, with the first couplings all being decided by viewers at home. Voting on who should pair up with those who closed earlier today.
Love Island returns on ITV2 on Monday, June 6, and is now available via catch up on ITV Hub and Britbox.
