In the Shamshera trailer, Ranbir Kapoors' epic revenge saga has begun ...

The first teaser for Shamshera, a Hindi language revenge movie, was debuted on YouTube India charts on Wednesday. Ranbir Kapoor is a high-octane entertainer who was first seen in Sanju in 2018.

The teaser opens with a stunning shot of Kaza, where a ruthless authoritarian general named Shudh Singh rules with an iron fist. These early shots may be beneficial to watch Mad Max: Fury Road, particularly how Shudh Singh keeps his subjects under his boot heels by controlling the city''s water supply and seemingly imposing some sort of slavery. Sanjay Dutt plays the villainous character.

Funnily enough, the last film of KapoorsSanjuwas a biopic based on Dutts'' troubled life. It still has been his greatest-grossing release, but it took him over half a decade to capitalize on that film success. Shamshera was originally expected to be released in 2019 but was later delayed several times due to the pandemic.

If this teaser is a clue of what''s on hold. Shamshera blends elements of epic Westerns and old-fashioned Hindi action films in moderate detail. It also mark a creative departure for Kapoor, who normally plays introspective heartthrobs. While the teaser wisely does not reveal much about the plot, however it does not disclose much about the title character.

He appears to be a Robin Hood-style dacoit-turned-savior who leads his tribe in rebellion against Shudh Singh. There are glimpses of dramatic desert scenes as Shamshera approaches the enemy with an ax in his hand. No one can stop him until he breaks across the sky like the dawn.

Dutt is on the verge of a late-career slew of villainous performances. In recent years, hes appeared as the antagonist in Panipat, K.G.F: Chapter 2, and most recently, Samrat Prithviraj. His career transition into villainy has arguably begun with Agneepath, the last collaboration with Shamshera producer Karan Malhotra.

Malhotras is the first feature film ever produced by the 2015 sports drama Brothers. For YRF, it''s a make-or-break situation, following two high-profile critical and commercial duds this yearJayeshbhai Jordaar and Samrat Prithviraj. Kapoor will also star in the fantasy thriller Brahmastra, which will be released in September.

Shamshera will be released in theaters (and on IMAX) on July 22, in three Indian languagesHindi, Tamil, and Telugu. This suggests that YRF is hoping to attract the same crowd that is still reeling from the Telugu language crossover hit RRR. The teaser is available here, read the official synopsis down below, and stay tuned for the full trailer on Friday.

Shamshera is set in Kaza, a fictional city where a ruthless authoritarian general imprisons, jails, and tortures a warrior tribe. This is the story of a man who became a slave, a leader, and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his freedom and dignity. Shamshera is a writer and authoritarian spokesman.
