Why Does Phase 4 of the MCU so disjointed?

Why Does Phase 4 of the MCU so disjointed? ...

The following contains spoilers for Ms. Marvel and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessPhase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in less than a day. When Kevin Feige announced the new phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2019, these new series and movies were meant to fill in the post-Avengers: Endgame era of pre-existing characters, including titles like WandaVision, The Falcon, and the Winter Soldier, and others. Simultaneously, the new phase of Marvel has

Through each new title, viewers have travelled from New Jersey to Egypt and from Madripoor to London. However, each story has a connection, with themes of grief, mental illness, and family trauma. While each new character is being deepening, the expansive universe on which they live in feels unjointed.

From Iron Man to Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel created a cinematic universe for its actors to co-exist and interact in. Starting with six characters, they expanded their Avengers team, with Thanos (Josh Brolin) lending their stories as part of the storyline.

The rocky hole that arises during the finale of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame is too big to ignore. You cant replicate this right off the bat; you have to try again to get back to the scale again. Based on what weve previously seen in Phase 4, the stakes have ranged from small to the size of the multiverse, with no apparent threat or villain they are leading towards. Each character lives in their own bubble (or Hex, if you will) with very little overlap.

Oscar Isaacs Marc Spector has Dissociative Identity Disorder with several personalities, while Marc is an avatar for the Egyptian god Khonshu (F. Murray Abraham) and protects the travelers of the night as Moon Knight. Although the series itself is a fantastic exploration of this new character (and deserves to live on its own), the implications of the series have little impact on the larger MCU narrative.

The post-credits scene of the series is usually reserved to tease the origins of the phase; instead, it quickly completes off Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) after Jake Lockley, the third persona, shoots him. The entire series, which includes two Sersi (Gemma Chan), is also recently visited at the National Art Gallery in London, but there isn''t a brief explanation of what would have been a massive event in a major global city.

Another reason why Marvel Studios has excelled in the past is because they have created layers to their characters with each of their appearances. This happens by renaming each storyline and building upon it in order to discover new details about them. For example, Captain America is also one of the best superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A character arc can suffer as a result of the fact that a previous storyline isnt acknowledged.

Through the character Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Yelena is on the warpath to murder Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), who she believes murdered her sister, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). However, the twist of Echo (Alaqua Cox) and the Tracksuit Mafia, although the author''s character is unclear. Even with Echo getting her own Disney+ series, her corner feels more on the fringe than other new MCU characters

What to Watch Before Doctor Strange in the Madness Multiverse

The lack of continuity of character arcs and connection to the overarching story is most evident in Marvel''s latest film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is now available on Disney+. Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) has been learning about the Darkhold, and her quest for her sons is wasted and her life is undermined by Gargantos, making it easier to follow Doctor Strange''s story; she is forced to close up with her sacrifice, removing her from

After Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) defeats Kang in the Sacred Timeline, but that was deliberate. She has put an end to the multiverse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it''s unlikely that Kang would have been the primary villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Instead of portraying a deep-cut comics character for shock value, Doctor Strange 2 might have partnered with these similar story threads to advance the new novel.

The Marvels is making a conscious effort to connect herself with Phase 4 Ms. Marvel. Unlike the Marvel Studios, Kamala Khan joins the Avengers and the MCU by making an extensive reference; even her Ammi has a huge crush on Kingo! And even without the knowledge of Iman Vellani, who will play in the film in 2023,

Phase 4 is like a puzzle whose pieces have been dumped on the table. These are still being divided over while a couple of edge pieces are being sorted with little connecting. While the individual stories are personal and rich, the narrative is so vast we cannot understand where it is leading. In theory, all of these teams are exciting, but many of these are likely to fall through the cracks, unless they are interwoven in meaningful ways.

There are a tumult of options to take Thanos as the new Big Bad. Kang, the Celestials, and an Egyptian pantheon of gods are all on the table, but there is absolutely no hierarchy or connection to each other. Kevin Feige, the studio head, said in a recent interview that as we come to Phase 4, there will be some obvious possibilities for fans to pick up. He also said that they expect the program to come soon.

Secret Wars is based on a Skrull infiltration in the 616-universe, which includes a variety of characters, depending on who they are. Also, since Multiverse of Madness has established the main MCU Sacred Timeline in the 616-universe and introduces a version of the Illuminati, it might create a future version of Secret Wars.

While this might be a wonderful future to look towards, the storyline must be gained after the current players on the table begin to connect their characters to this huge, multiversal one. Plus, the Marvels first family, Fantastic Four, and Marvels R-rated vampire hunter, Blade, are in the process to be introduced in the future, too. We want more time with these rebooted characters before they''re thrust into Secret Wars.

The reason why Marvel Studios has been the head of Hollywood for the past decade is the way they have been able to follow through with their stories. This isn''t the first rodeo of the creative teams so far. However, looking down the table of all the Phase 4 titles so far, most of the pieces are lying there. If a studio has built a cinematic universe off the back of each film with a throughline story for over a decade, the lack of one in Phase 4 is incomplete.
