The Star Wars sequel, Obi-Wan Kenobi, has finished its first season, and some enthusiasts are hoping for a second. It turns out that the Disney Plus program is examining whether or not there might be another chapter in this special Star Wars story.
However, there is certainly a lot of difficulty in doing a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Some believe there isn''t much to say about the man who eventually becomes "Old Ben" in the original Star Wars trilogy. So far, there hasn''t been much information about Lucasfilm''s plans for the streaming series.
Deborah Chow and Kathleen Kennedy discussed how they could change their mind when this season''s season comes to an end. She said she had always assumed that the series was a limited series. The couple said they "weren''t thinking beyond that."
Chow didn''t give up on a season 2 but said that if another installment comes along, there would "must be a good reason" for it. In fact, the show checked those boxes with record viewership numbers.
Producer Kathleen Kennedy reflected Chow''s views. She said the series should be limited, but it isn''t entirely off the table if there is enough work to get a continuity. Of course, it''s possible that a new series focusing on Cal Kestis, a character from the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, might be expanded in the near future.
Season 1 of Obi-Wan Kenobi was also ended in a way that might be perfect for a second season. Without revealing just what might be, there appears to be plenty to show of Darth Vader''s ongoing mission after the Empire took control of the galaxy.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is now available on Disney Plus.
