Gina Rodriguez and Zachary Levi have signed a partnership with Spy Kids. According to Deadline, the two have been cast in the upcoming Netflix film.
The new film will feature children of spies who accidentally assist a game developer in the release of a computer virus. It allows the developer to control all technology around the globe. Now, the kids must become spies themselves to save the world and their parents.
Rodriguez is best known for playing Jane Villanueva in The CW''s Jane the Virgin. Her other previous works include this year''s I Want You Back and 2021''s Awake. Levi is best known for playing Chuck Bartowski in Chuck. Levi''s other previous movies include this year''s American Underdog and 2019''s Shazam!. Rodriguez will play Shazam in this year''s sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Together with Rodriguez and Levi, Elaine Rodriguez will play Everly Car
Robert Rodriguez will direct the film, which includes four of the previous films, including 2020''s We Can Be Heroes, and 2019,'' Red 11, and Alita: Battle Angel. Rodriguez will also direct the film, according to Racer Max. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will also direct the film. Nick Nesbit will also direct the film for Netflix.
The Spy Kids franchise started with the original film, which was released in 2001. It featured Antonio Banderas, Carla Gugino, Alexa Vega, and Daryl Sabara, who later returned for Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, and for Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over in 2002. A fourth film in the franchise, Spy Kids: All the World, was eventually released in 2011. The animated series led to a Spy Kids: Mission Critical reboot.
The new Spy Kids film will be available on Netflix, but no official release date has been announced. In the meantime, fans may currently watch the animated series Spy Kids: Mission Critical, which is now available for download.
