Sonic Origins has finally restored the Michael Jackson Sonic urban legend

Sonic Origins has finally restored the Michael Jackson Sonic urban legend ...

Sonic Origins, a compilation of four classic Sonic the Hedgehog games, is now available for download, giving Sega fans the chance to revisit the mascots 16-bit era. It''s a genuine experience, with one exception: Some of the music that many Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles players experienced in the Sega Genesis back in the 90s isnt included in the new collection. Instead, Sega swapped in different tracks that are a combination of old and

This is because some of Sonic the Hedgehog 3''s original tracks were composed by Michael Jackson and keyboardist Brad Buxer. According to Buxer, Jackson was not pleased with Sega''s production of his songs, and subsequent Sonic the Hedgehog 3 releases included a variety of musical tracks. Sega has not officially confirmed any details about Jackson''s involvement in the Genesis game (hes not officially licensed in any version of the game), putting an alarm about the dangers of Sonic 3''s musical rights.

Yuji Naka, a former Sonic Team lead programmer on Sonic the Hedgehog 3, confirmed on Twitter that Jackson contributed music to the game. In the past, other former Sega developers described it as a sluggish rumor, but Naka would be in a position to know.

Oh my god, the music for Sonic 3 has changed, even if the SEGA official uses Michael Jackson''s music.

According to Sonic social media manager Jon Chrzanowski, rereleases of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on various platforms and compilations have taken a step further. For Sonic Origins, Sega partnered with Jun Senoue, a long-time Sonic the Hedgehog composer, to modify Sonic 3''s original prototype music for the collection.

In a video interview, Jun Senoues said he''s been working really hard to recreate the original music from the Sega Genesis version of the game. Hes also been using his own digital audio tape collection to make this sound as similar to the originals as possible.

The Jackson-Buxer tracks have been removed, replaced with Senoues new tracks as seen and heard in the game below from GameXplain.

It''s certainly a creative solution to a problem that has vowed Sega and Sonic fans for decades, and it''s likely to be the most authentic way to address what is already an urban legend. However, the response to the new prototype music has been widespread.

Sonic Origins is now available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The collection includes the original Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as sequels Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Knuckles, and Sonic CD.
