Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy pits the Umbrellas against a new group of super-children from Reginald Hargreeves. Despite a lot of fights and speculation, it also gives the Umbrellas a chance to have one of the most enjoyable moments of the season, a Footloose-inspired dance-off.
Polygon asked the cast of the Netflix show about their favorite group scenes of the season, and that dance scene was a common choice. What starts as a tense standoff between the Umbrellas and Sparrows draws Diego out with her venom. Its a joyous sequence, starting with a competitive dance between the two groups before departing into a joint number involving everyone dancing.
Emmy Raver-Lampman said that when everyone was there, including all the new cast members playing the Sparrows, it was always a great time. We always laugh every day.
The complicated sequence was probably done for five or six days, according to Raver-Lampman.

At the end of the universe, another popular choice was the Luther and Sloanes wedding. It was a rare opportunity for sentimentality among the chaos of an apocalypse (not to mention everything else in the season).
Robert Sheehan said the wedding was really good fun because we all got to act drunk as F. We shot in this very, very beautiful building in Toronto called the Liberty Grand Ballroom, where Torontonians prefer to go and have their wedding. And [it was really nice] even though it smells a bit like death musty, and it is certainly haunting.
Justin H. Min said the night before was so special, that you could really sense it in the air. It was like 3 in the morning, but it was just so nice to be together as a family, and you could hear a pin drop because it was so quiet.
Ritu Arya had an unfavorable choice (and reason) for her pick a scene in which Allison and Viktor join forces while Aryus Lila snacks in the background.
I had tons of sweets in the scene, and I was able to like, go for it, according to Arya. So when you finish the scene, continuity comes and replace everything. So you get to start fresh. I must have eaten 20 of these rainbow cookies, like 20 Twizzlers, I just had all of this junk food. I was horrified afterwards, but it was quite remarkable.
It was a lot of fun for the cast, as well as games to film. Notably, the ending of the show, which featured a group screaming session.
Min said the worst scene to shoot together was the scene where we were all screaming in agony for 12 hours. Literally, it was the toughest day ever, because we just stood there and had to look up into the sky and our necks all wreakened because we were screaming.
