Rege-Jean Page''s Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, will not return to Bridgerton season 3.
Page had a breakout star from season 1, but he''d only joined the cast in a short-term capacity, allowing him to progress on roles such as The Gray Man and Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.
Following being seen out in Milan with former co-star Jonathan Bailey, rumors grew about Page''s potential reappearance in Bridgerton.
Page sat these rumors on Instagram promptly, writing: "The boys are back in town. [heart emoji] (No, I''m not going back to the show btw the papers made that one up.)
"We had the best and most well-known coffee and sunshine in a while," said the board.
Viscount Bridgerton himself approached Bailey about taking Page in the lead role in February.
"I felt super kooky, and I don''t know if that''s necessarily unhelpful when it comes to Anthony," Bailey said.
"Well, this is someone who''s extremely anxious, who can''t sleep at night and is struggling to even digest a meal," said one thing I''ve ever read. "It''s certainly true that I had a lot of thought," said the author.
Page''s goodbye statement said at the time of his series departure: "It''s been an absolute pleasure and a pleasure to be your Duke." Not only on screen, but on screen.
"Our enormously talented and talented cast, crew, and outstanding fans have all been beyond everything I could have imagined. The love is real and will just continue to grow."
Seasons 1-2 of Bridgerton are now available on Netflix.
