The star of the Game of Thrones prequel sets up his next major film role ...

Olivia Cooke of House of the Dragon has already switched Westeros for something a little different, as the star of the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off has landed a lead movie role.

Olivia Cooke, who will play Alicent Hightower in the Thrones prequel series, is set to lead a fresh horror from producer Adam McKay, Breeders, ahead of House of the Dragon''s long-awaited release later this year.

Breeders will be directed by Kelsey Bollig, who tries to draw out their original ideas from McKay and Brian Steele, who appeared in Hellboy and Lost in Space unlikely.

Erin Westerman, the director of Lionsgate, shared the company''s excitement about Kelsey Bollig''s directorial debut.

Kelsey is a hugely enthused fan of her films. She''s discovered a shady background she''s had to impart to her whole life, and Breeders is a great example.

"It''ll be tragic, and Olivia Cooke is perfect for it," Westerman said. "It''s also a pleasure to be working with Adam, who developed this concept and will guide Kelsey''s story with great experience."

In House of the Dragon''s news, the series has just released a first look at Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen''s spectacular, uh, dragon, Syrax.

Digital Spy recently met Barrie Gower, an actress tipped fans about what to expect.

"I think again, we can''t say anything awful about it," says the author. One thing we can do is that, after learning about it, it''s evidently a completely different story to Game of Thrones it''s ever existed.

"The scripts are amazing. They''re fantastic. And it''ll be very exciting to see how it''s received. But it''s really well-written, and there are quite a few excellent stories in there. That''s all I can say, really."

Seasons 1-8 of Game of Thrones are available on DVD and Blu-ray. House of the Dragon is currently filming and will air on August 21, 2022 in the United Kingdom.
