Jennifer Coolidge will reprise her season 2 role as Tanya McQuoid, a socialite for The White Lotus.
The HBO dramedy was renewed for a second season in August 2021, but this time the show will be taken out of Hawaii and follow a new group of people at a White Lotus property in Italy.
Despite the fact that Coolidge''s return was confirmed in October, it was unclear if she would reprise Tanya''s role or play a different character until now.
"I do think people will love [season 2] based on the scenes that I''ve witnessed of other people," she said. "I believe people will be profoundly touched by the concept."
Fans had to say goodbye to most of Season one''s cast members, but creator Mark White previously stated that "some of them would come back" here and there, along the lines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where we see repeat characters while simultaneously permitting "the series to open up to new characters."
So, now that Coolidge''s character has returned, the door for some of the other original characters to do the same.
Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) is stepping down for Season 2 of Coolidge. She confirmed that filming was well underway in April. She told Cosmopolitan:
"It''s pretty wild. We''ve taken over this entire hotel." It''s cool how the location informs the show. Sicily is such a culturally rich place. I mean, there''s a literal volcano that has erupted since weve visited. It''s a very fine environment. It''s going to feel like that."
Will Sharpe (Sherlock), Theo James (Divergent), Meghann Fahy (The Bold Type), Tom Hollander, Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) and Oscar winner F Murray Abraham will also star.
Season 2 of The White Lotus has not been confirmed.
