Developer Subset Games announced on Thursday that the strategy game Into the Breach is expanding in all kinds of ways. The first in the form of a literal expansion, the Advanced Edition of the game is coming July 19, which will include new missions, new weapons, a new difficulty mode, seven new languages, and a slew of additional features as a free update for all current platforms.
Second, Into the Breach is going to iOS and Android through a partnership with Netflix, which allows Netflix subscribers to download the game as part of their subscription. Subset Games claims it will be the same game that other platforms, apart from a redesigned interface, and it will not include ads or in-app purchases and will include the Advanced Edition content. This version will also be released on July 19.
Into the Breach will have a physical version for Nintendo Switch through a partnership with Fangamer, with the version scheduled to arrive later in the year.
Into the Breach, which was once ranked seven on our best games of 2018 list, has long been a favorite among Polygon staffers. Both in style and execution, it has a lot in common with the Advance Wars series, according to Cass Marshall in 2018. But it goes beyond its puzzle/strategy game contemporary by incorporating a brilliant time-traveling mechanic.
