Overwatch currencies will be translated forward into Overwatch 2 as soon as Blizzard has confirmed ...

Overwatch 2 will not be released until later this year, but fans have received one useful update on how its in-game currency will work.

After a Blizzard Q&A, it has been revealed that credits, Overwatch League tokens, and competitive points from Overwatch will automatically transfer to your new profile on Overwatch 2.

While that might be great news for players, Blizzard noted that some items in Overwatch 2 will not be purchasable using credits from the original Overwatch game. This is because of the credits being completely different and in the sequels eco-system Overwatch 2 credits are the main currency.

Overwatch''s loot boxes will be automatically opened ahead of its release, adding their contents to accounts, as Overwatch 2 will not contain anything similar.

A Blizzard spokesperson said that we are not transitioning loot boxes into Overwatch 2. Ahead of the launch, any unopened loot boxes will be automatically opened with your account receiving all of the information directly.

According to the Commercial Lead for the Overwatch sequel, fans will get a better understanding of how these functions will work later this year.

On October 4, Overwatch 2 will be available early to fans with the first chance to play the free-to-play title without having to wait until the game comes to an end. However, everyone will get the chance to try it early on this date, with no last-minute delays.

Overwatch 2 will be available across all consoles, including Xbox Series X|S PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
