As a result of the recent release of Sonic Origins, a number of new details have been revealed. A cyberspace level, minibosses, a new faction, and even fishing with Big the Cat have all been revealed in a Sonic Origins datamine, giving us a good idea of what to expect from Frontiers.
This information comes from Sonic Origins files, which claim that Frontiers will feature both new and returning characters. Sages and Kodama are described in the game''s files as a new NPC type, with Big (and presumably Froggy) returning after a long absence from the mainline games.
@ahremic, a Twitter user, envisioned finding these files in Sonic Origins when it was discovered that the compilation game is using the same engine as Frontiers.
There''s a lot to gain from the old fans of the series here, looking beyond the discovered files. Big the Cat''s fishing minigame has not appeared in the series since his Sonic Adventure debut. FishCaught, NewFishFirstLooked, and FishingBigFirstTalked are among the files in question, suggesting that Big will guide Sonic through the fishing techniques. There are also mentions of a "Fishing Portal," which means it may not take place in the outside world, but will instead be a separate
Other topics of interest include CyberSpaceNoise and CyberHologram. This indicates a stage in cyberspace - a far cry from what we''ve previously experienced. It seems that the open zone will not limit the level design of Frontiers.
We have discovered that a new faction is involved in KodamaElderTalked, KodamaHermitTalked, and KodamaHermitSlept. Also, the Kodama haven''t seen the franchise before, so whatever they are, remains a mystery.
Additional evidence of things we already suspect, such as Amy and Tails becoming lost and needing Sonic''s help, is also included in the datamine. However, it may, however, be linked to VoiceDiaryCaught, as an early trailer showed Sonic following Amy''s voice, presumably to find her and Tails.
Later this year, Sonic Frontiers will launch across all platforms. For the time being, Sonic Origins is out, revealing four retro Sonic games. And so, there are a few Frontiers game files.
