Sonic Origins finally resurrects the Michael Jackson Sonic urban legend ...

Sonic Origins, a compilation of four classic Sonic the Hedgehog games, is now available for download, allowing Sega users to experience the mascots 16-bit era with one exception. Some of the music that many Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles players experienced back then isnt included in the new collection. Instead, Sega moved in a variety of tracks, resulting in new work.

Some songs from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which was then commissioned by Michael Jackson and keyboardist Brad Buxer, were not happy with Sega''s music development, and later versions of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 included a whole range of music tracks. Sega has never confirmed any information about Jackson''s involvement in the Genesis game (hes not officially credited in the game), putting an embarrassment into the game.

Yuji Naka, a former Sonic Team leader who made Sonic the Hedgehog 3 ad revenue on Twitter, admitted that Jackson contributed music to the game. In the past, other former Sega developers have heard a long-standing speculation, but Naka would be in a position to know.

Oh my god, the Sonic 3 music has evolved, even if the SEGA Official uses Michael Jackson''s music.

According to Sonic social media manager Jennifer Chrzanowski, re-releases of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on different platforms and in other compilations have changed in musical tracks from a prototype version. However, for Sonic Origins, Sega went a step further, recruiting long-time Sonic the Hedgehog composer Jun Senoue to modify Sonic 3''s original prototype music for the collection.

In a video interview, Jun Senoues said he is really doing everything he could to get the original sounds from the Sega Genesis version of the game. He is also using his own digital audio tape collection to make these copies as seamless as possible.

The Jackson-Buxer tracks have been removed and replaced with Senoues altered ones, according to the excellent video below from GameXplain.

It''s certainly a creative solution to a problem that has plagued Sega and Sonic fans for decades, and is likely to be the most authentic way to address what has been a bit of an urban legend. However, the reaction to the latest prototype music has been quite negative.

Sonic Origins is now available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The collection includes the original Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as sequels Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD.
