The Umbrella Academy''s season 3 trailer is now available for spoilers. If you knew it, then please take a look!
Just when the Hargreeves thought they had a grasp on the space-time continuum, they were thrown for another loop or, rather, into another loop. In the final, the members of the Umbrella Academy find themselves in a strange situation where their father Reginald has his name on a lot of buildings, and they have no powers (and they are not the only ones).
So what does all that mean in the grand scheme of the Umbrella Academy? That''s a complicated question, though Netflix hasn''t renewed the series yet, but the idea of not having a season 4 is difficult to imagine, especially since there are still a lot of other surprises in the series beyond the jump to a different timeline.
Is Allison teetering the Umbrella Academy at the end of the program?
Allison slams Reginald over the head and begins futzing with his machine. While the rest of the Hargreeves try to stop her, Viktor permits her to go, claiming that he does trust her only for her to push the button she wanted.
It is unclear if what Allison did was actually something she fully understood. After all, it seems unlikely that Reginald would have designed her a world in which she had the family she wanted. Despite her success, she at least has come out on the other side with not only Claire by her side but Ray, a choice that Emmy Raver-Lampman says there will likely be a lot of guilt thats going to affect her at some point. She achieved her great ending, but at the sacrifice of everyone else she loves
Why do they have authority?Where did Sloane go?
Im not an expert in future, perhaps alien technology. But is the world that Reginalds machine threw them into, where the remaining Hargreeves children had no powers, and also Sloane was gone for some reason where he intended to land?
Reginald is seemingly even more a leader in technology. This new world might, perhaps, be a testament to what he could accomplish without super children at all, or perhaps? had he completely channeled all their abilities into some other alien scheme. Parents who remember everything (Allison, Sparrow Ben, Luther, Klaus, Viktor, Five, and Lila) might be isolated because of their involvement in the machine that brought them there, however it worked.
Aidan Gallagher (Five) believes that everyone will be adjusting in their own way as far as Five goes. However, he is no longer relieving on his abilities to sort of make up the physical difference between what he was used to and what his body and reflexes think he can do, and he might need to be a bit more clever in future seasons.
Ritu Arya, who plays Lila, isn''t quite quite optimistic about her character: [Lila] wouldnt understand how to function. I think a lot of her confidence and bravado from this power. I dont know how shell be able to live. Perhaps shell is really clumsy.
Who is that with Reginald at the window?
From what it looks like, the woman next to Reginald is the same woman whos always been by his side, one way or another: Alice, his wife, and the basis for the Mother robot he kept around the Umbrella Academy (and the Sparrow Academy, although she was not there as Mother, you perv).
In the wake of Luther''s time on the moon, we notice that original-flavor Reginald had kept Alice in cryogenesis on the moon. It stands to be true that in this new world where Reginald has much more money, perhaps he was able to save Alice in some ways?
What the fuck is Reginalds deal though?
Although he looms large above the Umbrella Academy (and by proxy, The Umbrella Academy), we understand little about Reginald''s whole thing. On the 12th hour of October 1, 1989, he was passionate about adopting the children who were magically(?) born to 43 women. As an eccentric billionaire and inventor, the pilot of Umbrella Academy tells us that Reginald was uniquely suited to adopt as many of the children as possible.
Pogo was diagnosed with an alien after the first season of season 3, which he feared would be useful for some of his technology abilities. He was, at least once, well-connected enough to run in the same circles as the shadowy group who ordered the hit on JFK. In the new season 4, his name is on nearly every skyscraper in the city.
There isn''t much more room to look to the comic book for answers, but here the story has almost completely disappeared, and in the book Reginald is introduced as an alien within a few pages. After three seasons, it''s past time we get a little bit more insight into what his endgame is (in any form of reality).
What is the Jennifer Incident?
Ben''s death has often been linked to the Jennifer incident, with little discussion from the Umbrella Academy members. (Even Sparrow Ben seems uninterested to prod any deeper into what happened to his alternate self.) So what exactly does the incident mean?
The Umbrella Academy is almost like improvisational jazz. Some have claimed that Ben died by suicide, since the plaque at the manor suggests that the darkness within you may find peace in the light. However, Gerard Way, who co-written the comics, told Forbes that his existence was a mystery that he had never solved completely. I initially thought I was going to fix it. I was always aware of how I would resolve it. I''m just putting it up as you go.
The show may continue to answer it, mainly because it has never been particularly loyal to its source material and theres already been a few clues strewn about it, like Viktor having noticed a Jennifer sketch in Bens room. Plus Sparrow Ben appears to be around to stay, so he appears to be a reasonable beginning point.
Why does Harlans briefcase say Lester Pocket?
Is it possible that in a Harlans briefcase, Lester Pocket is pointed out? Like so many things Umbrella Academy, perhaps! The camera keeps on him using this name a lot. Another Jennifer Incident, though, might be a meaningful or suggestive in a way not entirely clear yet.
Why did future Five not want Five to save the world?
Five discovers that the phantom founder of the Time Commission is actually Five! Once hes encountered his older self (in a paradox-proof panic room), Older Five tells him you dont. [...] All that will be left is oblivion. He then advises Young Five that this a lost arm is what you have coming. He sends a darker warning: Before his machine powers off and he dies.
Five loses his arm in the last fight against the Reginalds machinations. In the park where they ended up in the new reality, Five''s arm is returned. It''s unclear if Older Five was only a warning about the Hotel Oblivion showdown, or if they have accidentally triggered something much darker. (Knowing the Hargreeves yeah, probably!)
Why does Grace think the Kugelblitz is God?
Most likely this is a reference to a comic book in which Vanya (as the character is still known in the book) notices a Robot Mom wearing a cross necklace. When she asks about it, the mom takes her to Norway, where she is introduced to the Sparrows.
Given how much the show has deviated from the books, it''s likely that this is a way to combine in some of the same themes, plots, and imagery without directly altering it.
Wait, so did anyone actually die?
As for any of the other siblings who got Kugelblitzed, like Marcus, yes and no. Harlan did off screen, apparently at the hands of Allison, as for Klaus and Luther. It''s unclear how many times it takes to get rid of the screen.
Do you think that while the timeline is once again changing, why do you think that with Luther and Klaus returning without harm done, and with Luther even without a gorilla body. Whether Harlan, Pogo, or any of the other individuals who were killed off in the alt-original-alt reality will return well, there''s nothing the Umbrella Academy loves more than a remix.
