Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead examines the first details of the Daryl spin-off ...

According to Norman Reedus, the Walking Dead spin-off centered on Daryl Dixon is expected to be something altogether new for the long-running AMC show.

The Walking Dead will conclude this year with the last part of its 11th season, but the untitled Daryl spin-off is expected to air next year in 2023. In a new interview with Leo Edit, Reedus is enthralling fans.

"There''s going to be a spinoff, and it''ll be me alone, and I''ll be on this mission, and those characters will return later on the road, of course; and other characters that have gone missing, I''ll likely run into," he said.

"But the spinoff will be completely different from [The Walking Dead]... it''ll be completely different. And, to be honest, you wouldn''t wanna do this show as a spinoff exactly the same by yourself, it''s frightening."

The series originally planned to focus on Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride), but McBride has since decided not to leave it altogether. This year in Europe, the plot will be set, which sparked a "logistically unacceptable" attitude for McBride.

Despite his disappointment, Reedus is still interested in the spin-off series as he thinks it might be a good opportunity to do something different as an actor and with the character.

"If you look back on [The Walking Dead], you''ve just been fighting nonstop, like I do it is fight, fight, and never get nice things, and I''m constantly... If I find something I like, it''s removed from me," Reedus said.

"You know, people are funny, they''re like, ''I''ve never seen this show?'' I''m like, can you f**king... I''m not like, but I''m capable of crying and scream and fight. It''s all I do. It''s exhausting."

"So I want to see something different," Reedus said, adding that automatically, the geography will be different. I imagine I won''t understand what the hell people are talking about for the most part because I don''t think my character speaks any other languages.

"I just want to see something different. I want the tone to be different. I want the look to be different."

This series will not be the only upcoming The Walking Dead spin-off, with the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead set to premiere on August 14 this year. The show will see Samantha Morton''s classic villain Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers.

Season 11 of The Walking Dead launches on AMC in the United States and STAR on Disney+ in the United Kingdom.
