Survivors'' survival and sacrifice are divided into five pieces depending on whether you throw them in your loadout or pick them up from a chest in the game.
When everything has gone wrong as a Survivor and its just down to yourself and the Killer, the Key can be a particularly useful item in making your escape. Heres why and how do you use the Key as a Survivor in Dead by Daylight?
How to use a Key in Dead by Daylight
A Dull Key or Skeleton Key is used to open a Hatch that has been ignored by the Killer during a match. During a match, a Hatch will appear and open, giving the remaining Survivor one last chance to make an escape and denied the Killer a total sweep of murders. With more than one Survivor left, the Hatch is invisible, and when it does appear it does so randomly somewhere on the map.
The Killer can return to the Hatch first by opening the Exit Gate and putting a timer on the rest of the Survivor to set their escape in less than two minutes. With a key, the Survivor must not try and escape through the Exit Gate; they may then close it with the key.
Walk up to the Hatch and use the Use Item button to unlock the Hatch. This step takes about 2.5 seconds, and the Killer is able to grab you while opening the Hatch.
Jump into the Hatch once the door is open, then it will be removed.
The Broken Key is another item that you can find and equip, but it cannot be used to open a Hatch. While this makes it seem useless, it may be equipped with Add-ons to unlock Aura-reading abilities, like the Skeleton Key and the Dull Key can. The only reason the Broken Key would be used is that its Add-on-inducing Aura-reading abilities last 10 seconds compared to the Dull Keys five seconds.
The ultra-rare Skeleton Key is the best version of the key, because it lasts 20 seconds and you may even open the Hatch with it.
