The official Neighbours finale trailer said it was about to give everyone a last drop of wet anticipation from Australia''s longest-running soap opera. And good on them. Nows not the time for understatement, nows the time for garment-rending sorrow and aching nostalgia, which is exactly what this three and a half-minute compilation teaches.
The trailer is a journey through Neighbours past and present, with Lou Carpenter scrambling about with a clapperboard, Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, and more weddings than a Moonie ceremony. Explosions! Murder! Violence! Fires! Plane Crashes! Natural Disasters! Stefan Dennis!
The deaths are followed by the sad piano version of the theme song. Oh, the deaths. Helen Daniels, Jim Robinson, Des Daphne, and Kerry were among the performers as they approached the duck shoot, but at 3:02, a poignant cameo from who else but Bouncer the dog was revealed. The intensity, the melodrama, and the emotional music all add up to the whole process.

The amount of time you would expect from a 37-year boiling egg in less than the entire episode, but it''s a representative sample, told with all the emotions of a toddler who dropped his ice lolly. This trailer calls for a sad day to come to the end of an era.
Peach and Peach 10 in Australia will be shown on Channel 5 on Thursday the 28th of July. A few days later, a host of big actors will be honoured to watch the show, including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and others. This week, the trailer will not be a small affair. Hankies is at the right time.
On Monday the 1st of August, see the Neighbours finale.
