10 Things You Might Not Know About 'Schitt's Creek'

10 Things You Might Not Know About 'Schitt's Creek' ...

Schitts Creek has marketed its comedic charm to the audience by superb writing and bold characters. Though the series ended in 2020, many dedicated fans are still re-watching it till today (and some have just got into it!)

Schitts Creek was a family affair, according to Eugene Levy (David Rose) and Sarah Levy (Twyla Sands), but this is perhaps one of the most prominent facts of the series. Like many films and television series, there is more than meets the eye. Here are some lesser-known facts about the cast and production.

Before The Lip Sync Scene, Dan Levy and Noah Reid shared a bottle of Prosecco.

Every Schitts Creek fan will remember the scene in which David (Dan Levy) serenades Patrick (Noah Reid) on a cover of Tina Turner's "The Best." Levy confessed his fear of shooting the scene and even went as far as saying it was the scariest scene I've ever seen in my life. I am adamant at memorizing lyrics, but I am not able to dance or perform as well.

Dan requested a bottle of Prosecco before wrapping the scene, and split the bottle with his on-screen partner, Noah Reid. Both the nerves remained warm, and this scene has remained one of Schitt's Creek's most well-known and memorable scenes.

Celebrities from the 2000s inspired Alexis Roses' character.

Annie Murphy, who played Alexis Rose, revealed how she created Alexis for the show. Her ultimate source of inspiration came down to reality TV shows, such as the Kardashians, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and the Olsen twins. I noticed that they all carried their handbag like this one late night. What if there was no handbag?

Before Schitts Creek, Emily Hampshire and Annie Murphy stuttered.

Emily Hampshire, who played Stevie Rudd, shared her story before Schitts Creek. Hampshire told Mental Floss: "I literally had $800 in my bank account, had no business in a year, was getting a divorce."

Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose) had a similar experience than Hampshire in which she was a tumbling aspiring actress who scarcely had any funds in her bank account, in my case $3. Thats right, Murphy only had $3 in her account and had been jobless for two years before she entered Schitts Creek. Two days later, she completed an audition for Schitts Creek.

Daphne Guinness Inspired Moiras Style

Moira Rose, a famous outfit (and wig) is wearing every time she appears on-screen. Her distinctive style is dominated by Daphne Guinness (McQueen's muse), and her black-and-white and Cruella-de-Vil-Esque hairdo (swirly and monochromatic) makes her (and Moira, of course) the fashion icon she is today.

Noah Reid Composed His Rendition of The Best

A surprisingly touching moment between David and Patrick sparked the open mic evening in Rose Apothecary when Patrick confesses to David with a phony vocal rendition of Tina Turners The Best. The musically gifted Noah Reid has given more depth to what is easily the most heartwarming moment in the whole series because the rendition was composed by Reid himself.

Recognizing Reid's musical ability enabled Levy to create scenes where they both express their love for one another through music. Levy said, "I hate listening to people talk about their feelings. I'd rather instead use it to get them closer in ways they didn't anticipate.

Annie Murphy-Woman is a mother of two who wrote a little bit Alexis.

A Little Bit Alexis has become a sensational hit, which can be seen in gay clubs worldwide and on TikTok. This may come as surprise, but Murphy, along with her musician husband Menno Versteeg and his ex-bandmate Nick Boyd, has joined Murphy as their vocalists.

Versteeg wrote in an interview with Elle how Murphy shaped the song and how she wanted it to be, and one day he was at some chain fashion shop and Work Bitch by Britney Spears was on. The second she told me, I knew I wanted to rip off the feel of the song.

Eugene Levy Hated Getting His Hair Wet

Many will remember that in the second episode of Schitts Creek, an Eugenes character, Johnny Rose gets caught up in a leaky ceiling dripping directly on his hair. But Dan Levy (David Rose) purposely wrote that scene because he knew his (real-life) father hated getting his hair wet.

In a conversation on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, while Eugene has headphones on (so he doesn't hear anything), the other cast members of Schitts Creek had to guess Eugene's biggest pet peeve on set, to which they thought, The Drip, and he replied, Oh, yeah, 'The Drip.'

Schitts Creek Set an Emmy Record

Schitts Creek's series will be ended after a six-season run. Despite never winning any Emmys in previous seasons, the sixth and final season set a new Emmy record for most wins: nine wins in a single season for a comedy series. It has broken the record of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisels' previous eight victories in 2018 and 2019.

Schitts Creek has won nine Emmys in the categories: Best Comedy Series, Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Best Directing for a Comedy Series, Best Contemporary Costumes, and Best Casting for a Comedy Series. Daniel Levy also tied the record with Moira Demos and Sherman-Palladino for most wins in a season.

In half a day, Dan and the team of writers created the series final.

It's common to speculate that the finale is one of the most difficult parts of a series' writing. In the case of actor/creator/writer Daniel Levy, he (and the team of writers) took only half a day to finish Schitts Creek's finale.

Levy admitted to already knowing how the series would conclude in a talk with The 92nd Street Y, New York, and said, "I wrote the last episode of our show, in half a day." And then, I've discovered that exceptional writers had aided me, and that the last episode, too, was written.

The Most Emotional Day of His Life, Dan Levy On Shooting's Last Day

When a series has come to an end, the audience, the cast members, or anyone involved in it feels a certain level of displeasure. However, viewers who attach themselves to the actors find it difficult to deal with their favorite on-screen actors, although these concerns are certainly more common for those who were directly involved in the production.

Dan Levy talked about his experiences on Schitts Creek the last day of his shooting; he explained that I spent five hours crying for, he added, so that I could have a splitting headache and no one else else to do with my life. I washed when I took David's shoes off.
