While the Monster Rancher series isn't as well known as other virtual monster raising games like Pokemon or Digimon, it has a cult following. However, Western enthusiasts may recall some of the previous games and its anime adaptation. The next entry being Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher.
After the 25th anniversary of Monster Rancher, the first two games were re-released on modern platforms near the end of 2021, with visual improvements and updated game mechanics. Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher is a collaboration with the Ultraman franchise, where players will have the chance to produce monsters like Alien Baltan, Gomora, and others.
With a new trailer, Bandai Namco has revealed that this new Monster Rancher game will be released as an exclusive on the Nintendo Switch. These include monsters from CDs, which in this case can help generate any of the game's Kaiju monsters. This game also supports NFC technology, where Kaijus can be created when a player taps an NFC-compatible card to the controller.
Players will be tasked with raising and training them to be the best after discovering secrets via races or exploring areas. Each player can also have their Kaiju trained in turn-based RPG combat.
The game will be releasing both physical and digital versions, with Ultraman, a series more popular in Japan, but it wouldn't be able to be rolled out locally. However, Bandai Namco has confirmed that the Kaiju themed game will be being brought to other countries.
In 2022, Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher will be available on Nintendo Switch.
