Wordle Answer 381, July 5th

Wordle Answer 381, July 5th ...

It seems that Wordle has been flooded social media with tiny yellow and green boxes this year. Even if everyone was playing for a while, from James Gunn to the VP of the United States to Karl Town's Wordle posts on Twitter, some people have yet to try this easy-to-learn game. So here's a brief overview for anyone interested in the game.

How To Play Wordle

Wordle is an easy game to learn how to play. In only six attempts, players must guess a mysterious five-letter word. Each new guess gives new clues as to what the actual answer might be. Here's a complete breakdown of all rules of play.

  • Head to the New York Times Games Wordlewebsite. Though there are tons of other versions and copycats, this is the original.
  • Choose a starting Wordle word. It needs to be five letters long, a real English word, and not one of the many offensive words removed from the answer pool by the NYT. Usually, words are the Americanized spells and are not plural nouns ending in S.
  • Type the chosen starting word into the top row of the 5x6 grid on the website. Press enter.
  • Each of the five letters will change colors; this will give players clues as to the real answer of the day.
  • Green letters are correct and in the right place in the word. Yellow letters are correct but in the wrong place in the word. Gray letters are incorrect and won't appear in the answer.
  • Given these clues, players have six total guesses to get to the answer.
  • Puzzles reset daily at midnight local time.
