Charlize Theron and Alfonso Cuaron have set a date for a 'Jane' biopic on author Philip K. Dick ...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a strange biopic of prolific science fiction author Philip K. Dick is currently being produced by the author's daughter and Amazon producer, Isa Hackett. The film is currently working under the title Jane, named after Dick's twin sister, who died just six weeks after birth. Both artists have been nominated for an Oscar nomination.

Jane was selected by Hackett as a "genre-bending" screenplay that would tell Dick's incredible life story in a profound personal way. The absence of his twin sister, Jane, lasted for so long after the father's death, as well as influenced his writing. His daughter, determined to honor her father's legacy in a way that honored his extraordinary legacy, chose to tell the story through the eyes of Jane.

Hackett explains the purpose of her story and how her father's life will be told in a different reality, similar to those she herself imagined and lived in:

Jane's story has been with me for as long as I can remember. She was at the center of his universe. This film will defy the norms of a biopic and embrace the other reality Philip K. Dick so desperately desiredone in which his beloved sister lived beyond six weeks of age. It is her lens through which we will see him and his imagination. There is no better way to honor him than to grant him his wish on film.

Only Apparently Real, a biopic about Dick's father, is being investigated in an all-new light forty years after his death in 1982. Several of his works have been adaptable for cinema over the years, but the author himself has been the subject of interest. At the time, the project was unaware of its director or cast; at the time, Shestack's script preferred the more traditional biopic style.

Theron is set to direct, best known for her roles in Mad Max: Fury Road and Monster, which won an Academy Award. Her credits include The Old Guard, Atomic Blonde, Monster, and other films from Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Cuaron, who is also on the board to produce, is a well-known writer, producer, and filmmaker. His breathless drama Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, also starred in 1995's stunningly beautiful A Little Princess, and was directed by Cuaron in a 2016 film, The Prisoner of Azkaban.

Jane is still in the early stages of her development and has not disclosed the cast or a projected release date. You may also see a breakdown of Dick's top 10 film adaptations below:
