One year after his stint on the show, Married At First Sight UK star Daniel McKee spoke forth about his life, calling appearing on the reality series the "best decision ever."
McKee was a cast member of the show's 2021 run and the first person to be a part of a same-sex couple on the program. He married Matthew Jameson, who hails from Leeds, and the couple reside in Northern Ireland.
McKee talked about his time on the show and what his life has been like since he spent a year in the program.
"It was the best decision I ever could have made," he said. "It was during Covid, I'm lucky I had a good experience."
"The program was a real rollercoaster." I entered the room with great intentions to find someone I'd want to spend the rest of my life with, and lo and behold, it came out just as I expected, if not better," he said.
"The whole process was incredulous and it was really motivating to be a part of it." I made friends from the journey, and of course I met my current husband Matthew, who also lives in Portstewart with me. He has moved from Leeds to live here on the Causeway Coast, and we run Wildbay Retreats together.
"It's my business, but Matthew is a significant part of it." "They're all-inclusive wellness meditation retreats... It's an opportunity for people to come together and to experience, learn, and implement strategies to help them attain inner peace."
He said the couple intends to "get married for real" in the near future.
"It's so important to take risks and to follow your gut. I think in life we don't follow our gut enough." It's okay to take risks and to grow as a person.
