Purple Hearts, a new Netflix novel based on Tess Wakefield's novel of the same name, brings a human touch to the discussion about the huge cost of medical treatment and the problems with veterans' benefits. The story follows the life of an upcoming singer-songwriter who somehow enters a marriage of convenience to help with her mounting medical bills. As unavoidable threats threaten to disrupt the entire plan in their faces, the project becomes a piece of cake.

Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, who has directed episodes of series such as 90210, MacGyver, Pretty Little Liars, and The Resident, is the executive producer.
