Artists are accused of plagiarizing Warzone dog skin

Artists are accused of plagiarizing Warzone dog skin ...

A new Call of Duty Warzone dog skin that was included in the Battle Royale game in season 4 is causing controversy as an artist accused Activision of unauthorizedly using a concept they had created two years earlier. The Loyal Samoyed skin, introduced as part of the Floof Fury tracer pack, replaces Kim Tae Young's giant, fluffy pup breed.

Sail Lin, a concept artist, claims that the skin, which also includes a black and white patterned scarf and blue camo outfit, resembles a design called Samoye Medical that they uploaded to Artstation in December 2019. They also tweeted a photo and a statement about the situation.

According to Sail Lin, I am the original artist from whom the upcoming CoD Vanguard Samoyed skin was plagiarized. I am extremely sorry to see my work being plagiarized by a big business like Activision in this way. They claim to have reached out to Activision to request an explanation or compensation.

Raven Software, the developer of Warzone, has yet to respond to the allegations, although several references of the skin have been removed from both its official Twitter account and its website. A previous post on Warzone season 4 which included images of the Loyal Samoyed skin, does not appear anymore on the current version of the page, as indicated by Polygon.

PCGamesN has reached out to Activision for a comment, and we'll update this article when we receive it.
