Despite the epidemic putting a slew of games back in 2021, Resident Evil Village was certainly one of those experiences that made the cut. Despite the game's relatively short story, Resident Evil 8 still had a lot of substance for gamers to enjoy.
Mercenaries mode in Resident Evil 8 was only allowed to play as the game's main protagonist, Ethan Winters. However, fans will be able to return to the game's Mercenaries mode when the game's end of October comes to an end, as three new playable characters will be added to the game's Mercenaries mode as part of an update named "Additional Orders."
Chris Redfield Mercenaries Breakdown
Capcom released a brief teaser for the upcoming Resident Evil 8 Gold Edition and its new Mercenaries mode just a few days ago. Each of the three new playable characters is shown off, each displaying a diverse set of abilities and powers that sets them apart from the others.
The first shot shows Chris loading a magazine into his heavily customized SMG, which includes both a laser sight and a silencer, as well as a few other modifications. The second shot shows Chris punching a horde of enemies, presumably sending a shockwave that staggers and crushes a few zombies to the ground in one notorious Resident Evil 5.
Chris' segment in the teaser ends with him grabbing a flashbang grenade on a group of enemies, which dazes and confuses all within its radius. It's possible that this might be a double-edged sword in practice.
The majority of abilities and weapons will be familiar to those who have already had their fill of Resident Evil 8's narrative, with the player controlling Chris Redfield towards the end. However, while playing as Chris may not be as unique or new as playing as Lady Dimitrescu or Heisenberg, his abilities and weapons look like they'll fit into Mercenaries' more intense and chaotic gameplay.
Resident Evil 8 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
