While playing Overwatch, a player was not seemingly given a choice when it came to ensuring the team got the next checkpoint.
Overwatch is a multiplayer-focused hero shooter developed by Blizzard for the first time since 1997's StarCraft. Modes like free-for-all and team deathmatch will be added in future releases.
Infam0usFPS, a Reddit user, posted the video on the official Overwatch subreddit so that everyone might see how things worked on the Route 66 map. D.Va can be seen on the overhead walkway alongside Mei near the second checkpoint as the pair push into one of the doorways to keep the defending team from halting their progress. The Mei flees outside and drops a wall that blocks their team's D.Va with the defending team.
As the clip's comment section demonstrates, Mei players have a tendency to mock their teammates by using their icewall abilities. Most maps in Overwatch have entrances which can be totally closed off with the wall; in turn, Mei players may use this to keep their teammates trapped in an unwinnable battle against multiple members of the opposing team.
Mei and D.Va's team were able to secure the checkpoint and keep the match going, making it more on the funny side. However, it would not be surprising to see players dissatisfied with this sort of play, regardless of the outcome. Any Mei players who may consider this in the future may wish to proceed with caution.
Overwatch is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
