Peaky Blinders will continue to run till the end of its final season, but for the time being, creator Steven Knight has been busy putting a bow on the crime drama that began in 2013, and it appears to be getting ready to film a spinoff feature film shortly. The film's development is nearing completion, according to Knight.

Knight said in the interview that he is almost done writing it and that he is planning to film it there. Knight also mentioned that the real-life Peaky Blinders on which the show based its protagonists roamed the areas. "Were going to shoot it at the studios in Digbeth and Small Heath in Birmingham. So it's like the Peakys coming home," said the filmmaker.

Knight has reiterated his previous beliefs about when filming will begin in the next 18 months. Back in 2021, he spoke at the BFI Film Festival about the film, claiming that filming will continue until 2023, so everything is on track. The film does look to complete the Shelby family's history, with a slew of new characters.

Peaky Blinders has gathered a loyal following since its introduction to crime boss Tommy Shelby (Cilian Murphy) and his street gang in recent years, including a BAFTA nomination for Best Drama Series in 2018. The series' highly anticipated Season 6 has received a 100% review on Rotten Tomatoes.

Knight talked about wanting it to be a shared experience that brought the community that made it all possible together. I'm just looking forward to having a Peaky event where people can watch it communally, according to the speaker. I mean, the social media community is huge and people talk to each other. But to get together physically will be really interesting."

Peaky Blinders is currently available on Netflix.
