Celebrities have been leaving Hollywood for years, but this trend accelerated during the pandemic period. Ariel Winter and Matthew McConaughey were both pre-pandemic defectors from the other coast, and others, including James Van Der Beek, also moved to the other coast during the Covid-19 period.

Alexa revealed that her husband's mental state was one of the many reasons the couple left Hollywood. During a time of transition, Carlos was facing many rejections. She told Fox News:

Carlos was really struggling in the business. Every audition he went on, it would get down between him and one other guy, and the other guy would always get it. The rejection was just becoming too much for him. This went on for a year. I was pregnant at the time. Wed always talked about moving to Hawaii as a retirement objective.

The actress explained how the family planning component made them realize that moving out of California was the most appropriate move. They simply believed their kids would do better if they were raised elsewhere, and they ultimately have three children born outside of LA between 2016 and 2021.

We knew that we would not want to live in Los Angeles. I felt this tug in my heart. I thought it was God going, You guys, please get out of here. It's time. I didnt want to move. I knew it was the right decision, but it wasnt something I was so excited about.

Hawaii is a lovely vacation destination if you want to take an alternate location.)

When people leave Los Angeles, it's because of children. Mathew McConaughey's wife Camila Alves talked about being prepared to leave the city in order for their children to be safe from paparazzi. Alves and McConaughey wanted to give their children a private path of growing up. In the Hallmark stars case, leaving Hollywood seems to be a tough one for her personally.

Hawaii would make you cry. But I loved LA. I loved my career and I didnt want to leave. But one day I was praying in my car and I suddenly had this revelation. We werent moving for Carlos. We were moving for my heart. I had to take a step back. I needed to learn how to be an awesome mom and a wonderful wife. God guided us through that journey.

The Thor: Love and Thunder actor and his wife Elsa Pataky wanted to raise their kids outdoors in a place where they could spend a lot of time out of the house and even ride horses. So in her case, kids were never included into the equation, and many other celebrities do stay in LA for the long haul.

Alexa PenaVega was promoting the publication of her new book What if Love is the Point (opens in new tab), which focuses on her childhood role as a child star in Spy Kids, which led her to her adult life and her relationship with Carlos. Since leaving Hollywood, the two have continued to work, and even collaborated on a few occasions, including Love at Sea.

Love in the Limelight is a story about a couple who remained close as pen pals until their return to their hometown. That film will premiere on August 6th.
