Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Forbidden and Limited Card List (August 2022)

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Forbidden and Limited Card List (August 2022) ...

With the release of every few sets, Konami has implemented various measures to ensure Yu-Gi-Oh! maintains a balanced competitive meta.

Because of its all-digital nature, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel forced the company to adopt a different approach.

Master Duel has a curated card pool of more than 10,000 cards. Among these are several cards that may not have been released physically in the TCG or OCG, creating a disparity between the digital platform and the physical game. Additionally, Master Duel allows players across the world to compete against each other using the same strategies and available cards.

Master Duel has been separated from both the TCG and OCG formats, becoming its own, independent version of Yu-Gi-Oh! This means that the Forbidden and Limited card list for Master Duel is entirely original and will help cultivate a unique meta.

Despite these distinctions, the ban list remains broken down into three different sections, with a fourth being included at the end of several updates to indicate which cards are no longer restricted in their usage.

  • Forbidden: A card is not allowed to be used in a players Main Deck, Extra Deck, or Side Deck.
  • Limited: Only one copy of a card is allowed to be used in a players Main Deck, Extra Deck, or Side Deck.
  • Semi-Limited: Only two copies of a card are allowed to be used in a players Main Deck, Extra Deck, or Side Deck.

Konami's ban list updates have traditionally been set aside for three months, giving players the opportunity to incorporate new merchandise releases into their strategies and create new decks, while also allowing the company to gather more data and make informed decisions about which cards to strike next.

If more formats are included to Master Duel, Konami has left a menu open.
