With a decisive week 6 victory against Liquid, C9 continues their late-split push towards the top of ...

Cloud9 and Team Liquid present an interesting scenario in terms of the LCS playoff race. Both teams are near the top of the standings, yet neither had secured their spot in the LCS Championship bracket heading into today's head-to-head match.

In the LCS standings, Liquid and Cloud9 were tied immediately ahead of one other, with Liquid in third place before today's match and C9 in fourth. The two teams above them, Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves, had both secured playoff spots, making C9 and Liquid the proverbial gatekeepers.

The close proximity of C9 and Liquid on the leagues ladder gave today's face-off additional playoff implications. Both teams have only five games remaining on their Summer Split schedules before heading into the final two weeks of the season.

Both teams fought off a blow-for-blow throughout the early game of today's game, claiming a Baron buff and a two-for-zero teamfight shortly after. C9 continued to hold a commanding lead in gold throughout the game, eventually defeating both Barons.

C9 was forced to play with a dismal roster the first time the two teams played each other in a week one loss to Liquid. Today, Berserker and Zven combined their efforts to score 9/2/17, while Berserker alone contributed for 21 percent of C9's total damage.

C9 have now won four games in a row as a result of todays victory. They'll want to continue that streak next week when their schedule continues to heat up with more games against top-half playoff contenders in 100 Thieves and CLG.

Liquid will try to bounce back next week with a match against FlyQuest.
