Kaitlyn Amouranth Siragusa, a popular Twitch star, was the only female streamer in the top 100 based on hours seen across all platforms, including Twitch and YouTube, in the second quarter of 2022.
The entrepreneurial Twitch star was the 56th most-watched streamer on the list, according to a Stream Hatchet report.
Between April and June, people tuned into her stream for 8.2 million hours.
Felix xQc Lengyel, Alexandre Gaules Borba, and Zack Asmongold Hoyt, who had 70.6 million hours watched, 57.7 million hours watched, and 40.1 million hours respectively, are significantly behind.
Still, she was the only female streamer to make the cut. Big names include Imane Pokimane Anys, Rachell Valkyrae Hofstetter, and VTuber Ironmouse.
Amouranth has dominated viewing interest compared to other women on the billboard. However, her main competitors have also been less active than usual, which has benefited a lot.
Despite their absence from the quarterly top 100 list, Twitch found how one-sided the streaming industry is. In 2017, the platform reported that 81.5 percent of users were male, while 18.5 percent were female.
The difference has widened a bit since then, though. In 2019, it was reduced to 65 percent and 35 percent, and in 2021, it was more or less the same, at around 67 percent and 33 percent.
The number of prominent female streamers is increasing. They have paved the way for others to follow, and if this trend continues, more will figure in the top 100 in future quarterly reports.
This is especially true now that VTubers, most of whom are female, are exploding in popularity left, right, and center.
It will be interesting to see how this will impact the data in the future.
