Gen.G won their first series against T1 this season on the weekend. But despite the dramatic victory in the 2022 LCK Summer Split, they are continuing to keep their eye on the task till the end of the regular season.
In a recent interview with Inven Global, Gen.G mid-lender Chovy explained that he's trying to stay focused till the end to win. He added that a lot of people believed that [Gen.G] would finish first if we beat T1. That's when you're most prone to complacency.
Gen.G is now at the top of the LCK standings with a 13-1 record, one victory ahead of T1.
The LCK teams have won four of their previous series this year, including the 2022 LCK Spring Split against the Fakers' storied squad. Im glad we won tonight at a crucial time, according to Chovy.
Chovy was confident his team would defeat T1 on the weekend despite the poor head-to-head record. "I played with the intention that we would win," he explained.
Gen.G. and T1 have four more matches to play in the regular season of the split. Both teams have already secured a playoff spot with a difference of three wins between second-placed T1 and third-placed DWG KIA in the tournament. A bye to the semifinals should now be all but guaranteed for Gen.G.
