Both Euro Truck Sim 2 and American Truck Simulator have been updated to version 1.45, and among the new features is a capability to allow players to join a convoy in the multiplayer games without having to download all of the mods the host player is using.
SCS Software, the development team, has developed a method that will allow you to join convoy sessions without the need to make all of the necessary modifications to the hosts session. In most situations, you will simply not see the modifications that are missing in your game, but for some things which are required (such as a player driving a modified vehicle model) you will see a colored placeholder box.
A rain sensor that can modify your wiper speed on the fly in response to the change of scenery and an option to conceal the red X barriers that appear to indicate an unsafe intersection or turnoff are also included in the update!
Players will now be able to purchase their own cistern trailers (including silos, dry bulk tanks, and fuel tanks) rather than hiring them on a per-delivery basis. There are also a few more substantial location improvements to come to both games, though these are distinct to each version.
Cody and the US-14 highway have been added to American Truck Sims Wyoming DLC, allowing players to see the beauty of Yellowstone National Park. On the other side of the Atlantic, ETS2s Hanover is getting a complete makeover, including the addition of the iconic Hanover Messe trade hall almost in 1:1 scale.
On the SCS Software website, you may find the whole 1.45 patch information for both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
