In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Burst is a unique combo ender. Art Combos are a new mechanism that makes use of positional status effects to deliver optimal damage in combat. Burst is one of the most powerful attacks you can pull off.
What does Burst do in Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Burst is one of two unique combo enders you can use in combat. Where Smash is aimed at dealing massive damage, Burst has a different purpose.
Burst's primary purpose is to restore an enemy's rage state. Every powerful adversary and boss has a small flame at the center of their health bar that causes them to become angry, use new attacks, and are generally much tougher to deal with.
The rage benefits of a Burst combo will be negated. A secondary effect of a Burst combo will make enemies much more likely to drop rare items when defeated.
In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, how do you perform a burst combo?
Art Combos are made by chaining together Arts that have position-based special attacks for their proper execution. Like fighting games, these combos follow a set of rules that must be followed otherwise they will not link together.
If you look at the above Senas Flashback Art, you can see that it triggers the Break reaction. Keep an eye out for any Art that might inflict this status on an opponent. This is the proper chain of reactions you need to perform a Burst.
Ensure that your team composition is capable of performing an Art with these special effects in combat. Burst combos will be critical to managing world bosses and farming for rare gear during late-game action in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
