Tenoch Huerta Discusses Black Panther: Wakanda's Namor Costume Forever ...

Wakanda Forever, the sequel to Black Panther, will officially introduce Namor to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and actor Tenoch Huerta spoke forth about his experience portraying the character and the value of representation.

Namor the Sub-Mariner first appeared on the cover of Marvel Comics #1 in 1939, but Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be the first time the character will appear in a live-action feature film. The story and his homeworld of Atlantis now based on Mayan and Aztec legends.

Huerta is a Mexican actor who has a lead role in Narcos: Mexico. He had been cast in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever a while back, but official confirmation that he would play Namor was not given until the Marvel Studios Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

Many Latinx fans were surprised to learn that Namor would be played by a Mexican actor, with the character having ties to Mayan and Aztec cultures. "I'm so excited and so glad to be here," Huerta said. "I want to say something really quick about inclusion. I come from the hood and, thanks to inclusion, Im here. I would not be here without inclusion."

Namor's introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is likely to elicit a strong emotional response from Latinx fans, but most are curious to see what role the character will play in the upcoming film. Could both sides be pawns in a third deadly force's methods? Time will tell.

On November 11, 2022, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released in theaters.
