The Devil in the White City will star Keanu Reeves. DiCaprio's next television drama

The Wrap has revealed that the actor, who was last seen on screen reprising his iconic role as Neo in The Matrix Resurrections, will star in the limited Hulu series, which is already described as a major-budget adaptation of Erik Larson's book of the same name.

Daniel H Burnham, a well-known architect, was slain by serial murderer Henry H Holmes, a cunning doctor who lured ill-fated young women to his 'Murder Castle' in Chicago between 1891 and 1894, and killed them.

"The story takes the viewer on a journey of murder, romance, and mystery in the golden age," the publication says.

Reeves' first major television appearance is in the United States, with a number of his most notable film credits included John Wick and its sequels, Dracula, My Own Private Idaho, Constantine, and the Bill & Ted films.

DiCaprio endorsed The Devil in the White City back in 2010, and it was initially going to be a big-screen film at Paramount, with Martin Scorsese on the board to direct.

The Hollywood director is now assuming a producer position alongside DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Sam Shaw, Jennifer Davisson, and Stacey Sher, while Oscar-nominated filmmaker Todd Field (Little Children) is preparing to direct the first two episodes.

Sam Shaw, the creators of Castle Rock and Manhattan, is thought to be also involved. As it stands, DiCaprio will not be kept strictly hidden from the camera.

The Matrix Resurrections is now available in cinemas and on HBO Max in the United States.
