Following blunt criticism, Brad Pitt defends Ana de Armas ...

Brad Pitt of Bullet Train has come to Ana de Armas' defense after she was criticized for her role as Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming Netflix biopic Blonde.

Pitt, who is a producer on the film through his Plan B company, praised de Armas, claiming that she is the reason the film exists.

"She does an outstanding job in it," he said. "It took ten years to find Ana."

Blonde is a fictionalized account of the famous actress' life as we follow her journey from Norma Jeane Baker to Marilyn Monroe, the most sought-after celebrity in the world. It is based on Joyce Carol Oates' novel of the same name.

Ana de Armas has received a lot of criticism for her role in the Netflix trailer, which was just released. So much, that Marilyn Monroe's estate was forced to intervene in her defense.

In an interview with Variety, her estate has not authorized the film.

"Marilyn Monroe is a distinct Hollywood and pop culture icon that transcends generations and history," said Marc Rosen, the president of Authentic Brands Group, the company that owns the Marilyn Monroe estate.

"Any actor who steps into that role knows that they have big shoes to fill. From the trailer on, Ana appears to be a fantastic casting choice as she captures Marilyn's charisma, humanity, and vulnerability. We're looking forward to seeing the film in its entirety."

Director Andrew Dominik has warned that the NC-17-rated film would "offend everyone."

"We're going through a period right now, I think, where people are a little unsure about where any lines are. It's a film that definitely has a moral component," Dominik told Vulture.

"But it swims in very ambiguous waters because I don't think it will be as cut-and-dry as people want to see it. There's something in it that will offend everyone," he said.

In September 2022, Blonde will be available on Netflix.
